Acts of Consecration of the Archdiocese of Montreal

Act of Consecration

to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

We come before you today, Blessed Virgin Mary, with our world present in our hearts. That is why, Mother of God and Mother of the Church, summoned by the Holy Spirit, we address ourselves directly to your heart and beseech you to receive our cry, you who sense in a maternal way the battles between sin and grace so that your motherly love and your heart of service may unite us to your divine Son, I consecrate the Archdiocese of Montreal to your Immaculate Heart with all of the baptized and everyone living in this region.

Immaculate Heart of Mary :

May we always serve human life, from conception to natural death, pray for us.

May we always recognize and respect human dignity, pray for us.

May we always serve those called to the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony and family life, and support the rights of parents and children, pray for us.

May we always be in solidarity with the poor, the sick, those who suffer, both close to us and throughout the world, pray for us.

May we always be instruments of reconciliation and peace in our families, our communities and our society, pray for us.

May we always be disciples of Jesus Christ, faithful to the Commandments of God and to living the Beatitudes, pray for us.

May our hearts be more open to God, to His Beauty, His Truth and His Goodness, pray for us.

May the light of Hope be manifested to all, so that each person will realize his or her mission in the world, pray for us.

Mary, before your Immaculate Heart, I want to unite us to the consecration that your Son made to his Father, out of love for us.” And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be consecrated in truth. (Jn 17, 19 RSV)”

Immaculate Heart of Mary, help us to live in the authenticity of Jesus’ consecration for today’s human family. Teach us the path of humility and prepare us for the consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Act of Consecration

Jesus Christ our Saviour, may Your Church be more firmly united to You and may we serve more fully the outpouring of Your Beauty, Your Love and Your Truth. For this purpose I consecrate to Your Sacred Heart the Archdiocese of Montreal.

Jesus Christ, true God and true man, who came into the world to serve and to give Your life on the Cross for all mankind without exception, enlighten our hearts. Do not cease to draw us near to You, no matter how distant we are because of our sinfulness.

Lord Jesus, Only Son of the Eternal Father, manifest in our spirit His infinite goodness, His justice and mercy; place in our heart an immense desire, great and true, to live as children of Light, to be in communion with the Church and her missionary life.

Good Shepherd, with a Eucharistic Heart, who knows us better than we know ourselves, never cease to seek us out, to carry us, to heal us, to feed us, to give us eternal life and to be the Source and Summit of Your Church.

Jesus, with the Father, Your Father and our Father, give us the Holy Spirit so that He may lead us to You, who are all truth and may He unite us to You who are infinite Love. May He keep us faithful in prayer and may He fill us and enliven Your Church.

Jesus, from Your pierced Heart that is meek and humble, flow blood and water. You loved us to the depths of love; dwell in and touch our hearts. By the power of Your grace purify us, justify us and transform us so that our hearts may become humble, pure, true, just and holy.

Jesus Christ Crucified, lifted up from the earth, draw near to all of humanity, draw to yourself all people who do not know you nor experienced Your love. Manifest Yourself and give them the light of faith.

Jesus Christ, Crucified and Risen, never cease to bring us back to You, to Your Sacred Heart; in spite of our refusals to do Your will, our negligence and our rejections in the life of prayer and sacraments, our distance, our betrayals and our abandonment of Church teaching, our lukewarm faith, hope and charity and our infidelity.

Faithful and Merciful Jesus, we trust in You, have mercy on us sinners, guide us on the path of Salvation. Grant us, Your Church, to serve humanity in the poor, the sick, those who suffer, families, justice, and peace.

« Blessed be the Divine Heart of Jesus who brings us salvation.

To Him honour and glory now and forever. » Amen
