COME SING WITH US

Ascension of Our Lord Parish Choir is currently seeking new members. The choir sings at the 10:30 a.m. mass on Sundays and rehearses each Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. If you have an appreciation of the rich choral music of the church and have a basic singing ability, you are warmly encouraged to consider joining us. An ability to read music is an asset, but not required.

THE WORD ALIVE: SCRIPTURE AND PRAYER

We have, yet again, a year of powerful, spiritual, intellectual, athletic and fun activities planned.  If you’re interested in having a good time and building Christian bonds with others your age and want to do so in a safe and Jesus-centred environment, please come see us in the church hall at St. Luke’s in D.D.O. (corner Westpark and Anselme Lavigne).  Activities can range from the quiet and prayerful to the Extreme!  We’d love you have you with us.

STRUGGLING WITH GRIEF?

A group workshop series is offered for people suffering a significant loss, such as the death of a loved one, divorce or a major change in life: “From Death to New Life: A Christian View of Loss” Practical tools for working through bereavement will be presented in talks, reflections and discussions, led by Deacon Richard Boileau, with almost 20 years experience assisting people in grief, are centered on the healing power of faith, hope and love.

“THE MARRIAGE COURSE”

All married couples are invited to enjoy some special time together, and to learn how to build a strong and healthy marriage that will last a lifetime! Over a period of 7 evenings, starting Sept. 2008, discover new things about yourself, and your life as a couple. This very practical course provides couples with the tools they need to take a good marriage, or a struggling marriage, onto a whole new level! Invest some time in making your marriage the best it can be! The course is presented in a calm and relaxing atmosphere. There are absolutely no group discussions. All discussions remain completely private between each spouse.

“DIVORCED CATHOLIC NOW WHAT?”

This program provides answers to the difficult questions that Catholics face because of divorce. It also provides practical tools to help us move past the pain and loneliness, to heal, to learn and to hope for the future. The program includes a book and a companion workbook to further explore and integrate the issues addressed in each chapter of the book through reflection questions, exercises and journaling. The subjects covered are important topics that at one time or another become issues no matter how long since your separation or divorce.

Notre Dame de Bon Secours Chapel will celebrate the last English-speaking Mass on Saturday, November 23rd at 4 p.m. and will resume English-speaking masses again on Saturday, April 18th 2009 at 4 p.m.

The Sunday Mass in French will continue at 10:30 a.m.

One of the greatest challenges to the Church and culture is the renewal of marriage. Marriage mentoring works with experienced couples in order to enrich their own marriages as well as equipping them to work with other couples to transform marriage culture.
