JESUS FASCINATES US STILL

CROP poll results

A CROP poll, conducted in January, indicates that the person of Jesus remains rooted in the Quebec psyche, among people of all ages. But what do they know of Jesus? Few believe Jesus is the Son of God. Présence Magazine produced a report on the poll results, and the Centre culturel chrétien de Montréal will hold a French-language conference March 13 on the theme, Why Does Jesus Fascinate Us Still?

NEW FAITHFUL RECEIVE WARM, JOYFUL WELCOME

Rite of Election

This year, 82 adults asked to join the Catholic Church and another 145 requested the sacrament of confirmation. Jean-Claude Cardinal Turcotte warmly welcomed them during a prayer service at the cathedral Feb. 21.

CHILE'S EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS RECEIVE CATHOLIC AID

$50,000 for emergency relief efforts

Catholic aid organizations have spun into action following the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Chile Feb. 27, killing 279 people and leaving about two million homeless. The Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (D&P) has given an initial $50,000 for emergency relief efforts. The Catholic aid federation, Caritas Internationalis, is on the ground distributing aid.
